NPCL Mutual Insurance Company has an ever-growing history dating back to 1882. Starting out as three separate Mutual Insurance companies, we’ve come together to provide only the best to our policyholders.

- Louisville Mutual - founded 1885
- Ceska Mutual - founded 1890
Merger Timeline
- 1991 - Ceska and Louisville merged to form Ceska-Louisville Mutual
- 2001 - New Prague and Ceska-Louisville merged to form New Prague-Ceska-Louisville Mutual Insurance Company
Even as mergers have taken place, our goal has always been and remains to be providing quality and competitive insurance services and products that meet the ever expanding needs of our current and future policyholders. Today we operate as NPCL Mutual Insurance Company and remain based out of New Prague, Minnesota.

An Ever Growing History
Before the mergers, before the company name additions and before the technology explosion of the Internet and cell phones, we operated solely as New Prague Mutual Insurance. Established in 1882, New Prague Mutual arose with the farming community to meet the growing needs of farmers who weren’t able to acquire insurance coverage elsewhere. Back then, big city insurance companies were not knowledgeable about farming and rural Minnesota. These companies were reluctant to insure an industry that was merely developing, filled with risk, and far from their home offices. At that time, to meet their needs, area farmers banded together to develop their own insurance companies and the township mutual insurance company was born.
New Prague Mutual has expanded over the years, adding insurance products, merging with other mutuals and extending our service area to include 11 counties. Currently we insure just as many homes in the surrounding communities as farms, including town homes, single-family homes, businesses, hobby farms and of course fully operational farms.
Even today, over 135 years after our founding in 1882, we are still member owned. NPCL Mutual Insurance Company is governed by a member-elected Board of Directors who select Officers and employ a Manager to maintain the day-to-day operation of the company. We continue to grow our business by offering clients a hometown spirit accompanied with custom services that are uneasily matched by the large national insurance providers.
Our agents are your neighbors and friends. Our office is just down the street, not located in a suite of offices out of state. And our insurance products are developed and targeted to meet the needs of rural Minnesota. |
